Statistician George Box is quoted as saying ‘all models are wrong but some are useful.’ At best a Boldin conversion strategy should be interpreted as “based and these inputs and these assumptions, knowing what we know today, this is a plausible end result.” In my case, I am making Roth conversions to supposedly mitigate unfavorable RMD conditions 16 years from now. There’s a lot that will change in 16 years, guaranteed.”
