Meet the instructors

Nancy Gates

Role
Nancy is a wealth of knowledge and loves working with the Boldin community as an educator and coach. You’ll meet her during Office Hours, in Classes, and in Live Plan Review Sessions. Her goal is to educate and support you as you design your plan with complete confidence for today and for the future.

Background
With a hunger to continue learning after her career as a Spanish teacher and department leader, Nancy immersed herself in the language of personal finance and has since completed a certificate in accounting, passed the FINRA SIE exam, and passed the NASAA Series 63, 65, and 66 exams.

In her free time
When she’s not crunching numbers, Nancy can be found on a hiking trail or curled up with a good book. She’s also an avid traveler and “templer,” having visited sites such as Teotihuacán, Machu Picchu and Angkor Wat.

Bruce Lorenz

CFP®, MBA, FHFMA

Role
Bruce Lorenz became a CFP® professional to help people achieve their financial goals, plain and simple. Regardless of where you’re at in life, Bruce’s expertise in a variety of topics from asset allocation to taxes and everything in between means you’ll get reliable advice informed by years of experience.
Bonus: Bruce’s experience in the healthcare industry and financial planning knowledge means he can help you navigate your Medicare choices and understand the options available.

Background
He spent his early career managing finances for healthcare organizations and transitioned to direct financial planning services so he could work one-on-one with individuals and families, helping them plan for the future and live their best lives.
Bruce earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Union College in Lincoln, NE, before completing a Master of Business Administration from Kansas University. He’s also certified as a Fellow with the Healthcare Financial Management Association.

In his free time
He demonstrates his passion to help others by providing pro bono financial planning through a number of organizations assisting the underserved across the country. When he’s not providing financial guidance, you can often find Bruce enjoying a run or playing pickup basketball games at the gym. He’s also an avid music lover and plays the piano.

Jean Allen

RoleWith Masters degrees in both Life Coaching and Management & Leadership, Jean is passionate about empowering individuals to live their most authentic and fulfilling lives. She wants you to feel confident about your ability to fund a secure financial future.

BackgroundJean has 9 years of financial coaching experience. In her most recent position with the United States Navy, she helped service members and their families create financial goals and an actionable plan for achieving them.
